A New Feature on Building Faith
Today we are excited to launch a new section of the Building Faith website. “Home Practices: Our picks for building faithful households” is a free collection of practices for households. We hope you will use, share, and recommend this resource!
Faith in the Household
Christian leaders know that forming people in faith means encouraging “life long” and “life-wide” Christian engagement. This means that faith is practiced at every time and every place in our lives. We spend the majority of our lives outside of church; the good news is that we can claim our whole lives as part of our faith journey.
Research points to the household as the context in which faith is formed, strengthened, and passed on. As Robert Wuthnow writes, “The prime source of faith for self-described ‘religious’ people was the way faith permeated the daily like of [the home]” (Wuthnow, Growing up Religious, Beacon Press: 2000, page xl).
