For you shall go out in joy,
and be led back in peace.
The mountains and the hills
before you
shall burst into song,
and all the trees of the field
shall clap their hands.

Isaiah 55:12

Greetings and blessings to you, whether you are a long time reader or new to this blog.  Welcome!

As the prophet Isaiah reminds us, we are in a time of joy!  Today we rejoice for this site, Building Faith.  We rejoice for Sharon Ely Pearson and the gift she has given to the church and to the world.  We rejoice for new ventures and new beginnings.  We rejoice that we are living in a time of great excitement and great opportunity for FAITH.  As Christians, we have the opportunity to deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ and to invite others into that relationship.  This is the call of Christian formation, and there is joy in this call!

Allow us to introduce ourselves.  We are Matthew Kozlowski – an Episcopal priest living and working in Alexandria, Virginia – and Charlotte Greeson, a Christian educator also living and working in Alexandria.  We are part of the team at the Center for the Ministry of Teaching at Virginia Theological Seminary.  Together we will be continuing the work of Building Faith; bringing you articles, ideas, prayers, reviews, and more.

For you long time followers and contributors of Building Faith, you may have some questions.

Will this site continue as we know it?
Yes!  There will be new content every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, in addition to a short Sunday evening feature to spark conversation.

Will the Facebook page continue?
Yes!  Click here to visit

Why new leadership for this site?
When Sharon Ely Pearson announced that she would be relinquishing responsibility for Building Faith, we at the C.M.T. were approached about becoming the new hosts for this important site.   Curating and generating resources for Christian formation has always been part of our mission, and we were therefore excited to take on this new role.  We look forward to continuing the blog and serving you, the community that has grown with it.

Will Sharon still be involved?
No and yes.  While Sharon is stepping away from the site to focus on her publishing and editorial work at Church Publishing, she will occasionally offer articles and reviews.  We are deeply grateful to Sharon for her work in building this site and thankful for her continued friendship and guidance.

Will the content and past articles remain available?
Yes!  The resource room will continue as a treasure trove for Christian formation, and the charts and guides will remain posted.  Past articles will remain posted and archived.

Please send us your ideas, comments, hopes, and suggestions for Building Faith.  This site is a community, and we join in the goal of supporting and promoting Christian formation for all.

If you are new to the site, consider subscribing by entering your email address in the subscribe feature on the right side of the page.  Subscribing means that you will receive an email whenever a new post appears.  It is a handy way to make sure you don’t miss anything, and be assured that we will never share or abuse your email address.

Thanks for visiting Building Faith.
